Afternoon / Evening

As a participant you will be have the option between two tours. We recommend that participants will limited mobility choose tour 2, as it is less active and a shorter length of time.

Tour 1: Trip the to the Youth Island. Departure by boat is expected 1pm. The Youth Island is an old military ford. Activities on the Island are based on the values from the Guide and Scout movements. We will spend Friday afternoon inspired by the theme “Power, Impact and Responsibility” in relation to the overall theme of the Event: “Guiding the Future”. There will be a panel discussion and inspirational speeches, as well as presentations of the Danish guide and Scouts Associations. You will have the possibility of exploring the Island on your own or in guided tours. There will be a full programme as well as the option to relax enjoying the unique panoramic view of Copenhagen.

Dinner will be served from 5.30 pm. The ferries will be going back and forth between the Island and the City Centre thus giving you the option to leave early at 6.30 pm or stay and watch the sunset at about 8.30 pm.

Tour 2: Event at the Local Guide and Scout Centre (Søndermarken), from 2pm– 5pm. The population in the big cities around Denmark is growing and as a consequence more and more Girl guide activities are taking place in urban settings. Søndermarken Guide and Scout center is a exceptional example on how to integrate guiding activities into local urban communities. Participants will have the option to explore the facilities and get a presentation of how the Danish Guide and Scout movement. There will be young guides and scouts at the facilities demonstrating Danish guide and scout activities. When you register, you can select whether you would like to have dinner at the Centre.


Saturday, 24 August

Tour of Copenhagen Harbour by boat, focusing on women’s forgotten and hidden role in history

Buses back to the hotel
Participants have the possibility to take a detour taking them around various sights in Copenhagen. Tour is expected to take around 45 minutes.

Evening

(Dress code: Black tie / Dark suit and tie AND long / short dress)
