At registration you chose between the Trip to the youth island and Søndermarken tour.

14:30 – 21:00 Youth Island:

Trip the to the Youth Island. Departure by boat is expected at 1pm. The Youth Island is an old military fort. Activities on the Island are based on the values of the Guide and Scout movements. We will spend Friday afternoon inspired by the theme “Power, Impact and Responsibility” in relation to the overall theme of the Event: “Guiding the Future”. There will be a panel discussion and inspirational speeches, as well as presentations of the Danish Guide and Scout Associations. You will have the opportunity to explore the Island on your own or on guided tours. There will be a full programme as well as the option to relax enjoying the unique panoramic view of Copenhagen.

Dinner will be served from 6pm, however for guests going back with the first boat at 6.30pm dinner is served from 5.30pm The boats will be going back and forth between the Island and the City Centre. From the City Centre, buses will take you back to Tivoli Hotel.

“Social Innovation” – Susanne Kolle
Get an introduction to how the core values and method of Guiding and Scouting is combined with practising project management skills to create positive changes in communities. The Social Innovation programme empowers Guides and Scouts through practising empathy in their local community and engaging them in leading change. All of this while learning and practicing concrete project management skills that may be used for multiple purposes in their journey through Guiding/Scouting and in life. The programme has been developed by the Joint Committee of Girl Guides in Denmark and has been in use in many parts of the world.

Dinner with jazz and cocktails

13:30 – 17:15 Tour 2: Event at the Local Guide and Scout Centre (Søndermarken), from 2pm– 5pm. The population in the big cities around Denmark is growing and as a consequence more and more Girl Guide activities are taking place in urban settings. Søndermarken Guide and Scout Centre is an exceptional example of how to integrate Guiding activities into local urban communities. Participants will have the option to explore the facilities and get a presentation of the Danish Guide and Scout Associations. There will be young Guides and Scouts at the facilities demonstrating Danish Guide and Scout activities. When you register, you can select whether you would like to have dinner at the Centre.

A short introduction to “Søndermarken” – a modern interpretation of a Guide and Scout and multifunctional building by local leader Inge Rodian Poulsen

“From Guiding and Scouting to Professional Leadership” by Signe Lund Christensen

“Engaging Young People and Facilitating the Creation of Civil Society Organizations Movements of the Future”, Mariann Libach Burup, representative from the Youth Island and former “Give a Year”-volunteer at the Youth Island

Break with coffee/tea

Open sessions. Participants can circulate and participate in three open sessions, each lasting half an hour. Young Guides and Scouts will participate and engage participants in their activities

“Girl Guide and Tech – Inspiring Young Women to get Interested in Tech”, by Monica Hald and her group of Guides. The Guides will involve participants in coding their way through the activity

“Science Pirates” – what has science got to do with Guiding and Scouting by Signe Lund and her group of Guides.

Danish Guiding and Scouting – meet Guides and Scouts and see, smell and taste classic Danish Guide and Scout activities with Maria Hastrup and her Guides and Scouts from Søndermarken Group

Saturday, 24 August

09.10 In groups with a “patrol leader” a short walk to “The Wave” at Kalvebod Brygge for joining the  Canal Boats

Customized Canal tour around Copenhagen Harbour – celebrating OB-PS 40 years. The canal tours will show some of the traditional sights of Copenhagen. However, we have added a twist: we have included stories about the previously overlooked impact women have had on history.

11:45 – 12:45 Lunch (Salad bowls)

12:45 – 12:50 Welcome/introduction, by Mette Grønvold

12:50 – 13:05 Speaker: “The Principles of Education in Democracy in Danish State Schools”

The Award Presentations include a Presentation Ceremony for Princess Benedikte Awards, as well as Leader and Visionary awards.

Buses for DGI Byen leaving in front of the Tivoli Hotel. For guests who would like a morning walk to DGI Byen (est. 15 min), can walk with guides. The walking tour will meet in front of the Tivoli Hotel and leave at 8.20.
